The Call up to the Big Leagues

I wanted my community to know a little more personal details behind my recent decision to leave Rosetta. First off, this was a very difficult decision as Rosetta is an incredible company. I am a huge fan of what they are doing and the direction of the agency. Rosetta will be the #1 Interactive Marketing Agency and have a great jump on that goal already. I wish them and the team I worked with nothing but the greatest vote of success. If you are pursuing careers with them, I guarantee that those opportunities will be well worth the honest consideration.

Life breeds opportunity. I have the choice to act on that opportunity or stay in my comfort zone. I feel a burning desire to follow my personal passions and goals which is why I ultimately chose to pursue, in my opinion, greener pastures. I am a recruiter. There are practically two paths for a recruiter, either to work for a corporation or at an agency. I have been an agency recruiter for 4+ years and a corporate recruiter for the just under 2 years with Rosetta. I chose to jump back into the agency world with a top notch, best of breed, executive recruiting firm. I have learned a lot during the years about what makes a recruiting firm, what is successful and what is not. I chose to join Global Executive Solutions (www.globalesg.com) to lead their digital marketing division. I will be focused on partnering with digital agencies to assist them with finding and selecting top shelf talent. To become an GES recruiter you complete an intense 13 week training program. So far, it seems to be more of an executive MBA than any ordinary recruiter training. This firm is teaching me how to think, act and perform like a businessman. I am impressed with their ability to deliver true business results that are above standard, in my opinion, to what I have seen in the industry to date.

I am not sharing this with you to impress but to express that our economy needs people who follow their dreams and passions. This is a tumultuous time in the job market and many people told me that I would fail and that have chosen the worst time to go out on my own and build a business. Thank you for those comments. I will use those comments as fuel in order to succeed. I am terribly excited to work hard through these tough times. I will continue to manage this blog and provide even more valuable information. That is one of the great things about digital relationships.

Thanks for following and all your support.

Congrats on the new opportunity Darrin and I wish you much success! It sounds like you’re off to a great start and I love your attitude about using the comments of negative people as fuel for your success!

Darrin – they weren’t negative comments in regards to your ability, talent, or passion, but things that are beyond your control. This economy is miserable for everyone; a bold move like this makes people (me) consider the timing…not you.

It sounds like a great opportunity and a step in the right direction for you and your career. I’m sure you’ll do well and fight through it. But know that those comments came out of respect and consideration for you.

    Darrin,

Glad to hear of the change. How is training going, you should be a few weeks into it and comfortable with the new “beat” of the company.

    Hope all is well
