Survey Says – The Results!

The results are in…Browns fans don’t care who the coach is and feel that not just a running back will solve the player issues. Over the last week, several hundred people came to this site and gave their opinion on three questions…

1. Would you still follow the Browns if Bill Cowher were Head Coach?
2. Who would you want as Head Coach? (Bill Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer, Russ Grimm, play-by-play announcer Jim Donovan, or Other)
3. Should the Browns pursue a running back in the off season?

1. 97% of voters said that they would still enthusiastically follow the Browns if arch rival Coach Bill Cowher were hired. The 3% of the people that said that they would stop being Browns fans will have to go pound salt and find a new team to follow. I hear Detroit needs some fans! I wonder if it was just one ticked off person coming back to my site and voting to make a 3% impact. In all actuality, Bill Cowher started off as a Brown. Why not end as one? For the person that is going to be a future Lions fan, make sure you post your comments on why.

2. Obviously there is going to be a coaching change. So, what did the masses suggest?
  • Bill Cowher = 66%
  • Marty Schottenheimer = 11%
  • Russ Grimm = 4%
  • Other = 15%
  • The famed announcer Jim Donovan = 4%

So what you’re saying, Jim Donovan has as good of a chance at wearing the headset as Russ Grimm. Come ‘on guys, he’s isn’t even a coach. But I bet he can turn out at least a .500 season and some much needed sideline energy. I am curious as to why you feel the way you do about coaches. Please post your comments below.

3. Now to the subject of running back. 70% of voters said, Go get a running back! Well, there are so many holes on the team that we can bring on just about any position and make improvements. What do you think will be the most important position to fill in the off season? Post your comment.

I am not an analyst that is capable of truly evaluating and analyzing this information. I can say however that we have proven that we are dedicated fans. It is hard to say at times, especially right now seeing how we haven’t scored a TD in 5 games now. Every year since I remember, we have said that “this is the year”. At the end of every year, we say that the Browns suck and we are done with them. Well, in football, the Brownies are all we got. Come on Cleveland!

No Darrin, I only voted once! 3% was definitely less than I thought it would be. I was guessing maybe 7-10. And Jim Donovan? Not sure that makes much sense. And we definitely don’t want to play Detroit, I think they could beat us.

“Well, there are so many holes on the team that we can bring on just about any position and make improvements.”

True statement if you’re talking about the Browns of, well, pick a season…but not this year or last. We actually have talent. That’s what is so sickening about this. Last year was only a fluke in terms of coaching. An open playbook in all aspects but talent was never questioned.

Jamal looked good last year, but it had to do with a respected pass attack and an O-line that worked together. We do have some holes to fill…but few are on offense. The holes we need to fill are for the guys that don’t wear pads.

Darrin, Hey I found your site on twitter and will definitely be following you. I am a recruiter in the Columbus area for healthcare so some of your info has been interesting to read. As for this topic, I also write for a Cleveland Browns blog called NoLogoNeeded.com, you should check it out when you have a chance.
I do think we a running back to replace Lewis in the next year or so, but that is the least of our concerns. We need linebackers and someone to get a pass rush. Cincy rushed for almost 200 yards against us with a retread that was cut earlier in the year in Cedric Benson. Also, don’t be surprised if we bring in a coach with not as much name recognition, there are some really good coordinators out there and that seems to be the trend.

  4. Darrin Grella Says:

Thom – The other brave souls that voted against the Cowher deal have not yet reared their heads. I am thinking that you had your kids vote “no”. HaHa.
Thanks for the comment. Have a great holiday.
