Help: My Resume Is Broken

By admin • September 23rd, 2009

There is a significant amount of weight put on the importance of the resume.  In a recent ebook that the InterviewGurus produced we outlined the the stage process of the Job Life Cycle.

1. Looking for a Job
2. Interviewing for a Job
3. Working on the Job

Your resume is one component within the first stage.  The resume is so much more important to us than it actually is the the hiring authority.  In a survey that we performed, we questioned 2,000 hiring authorities, HR professionals and recruiters as to the length of time invested in a resume.  The collective 73% said that they view a resume less than 30 seconds.  Actually, 40% view them less than 14 seconds on average.

This means that your resume needs to catch the hiring authorities attention NOW!

What is the purpose for the resume then?  The purpose of the resume is to get your foot in the door and get you an interview, then let me ask you, is it working?
Today is the day to make progress to an award winning, interview getting resume.
I have seen, read, discarded and written thousands of resumes which people of every profession have paid me $500/per resume and they are thrilled to pay it because of the jobs they are landing.

You have to find a way to be able to prove to employers that YOU are the one they need to hire.  There are so many ways a resume can be written.  Regardless of what type of position you are interviewing for there is some core data that must be in your resume in order to get you an interview.

You do this by ensuring your resume has inclusive these 5 things:
1) Be specific on what you want (
2) Emphasis on achievements and results (quantifiable examples)
3) Easy-to-read  and eye catching design (use your creative marketing skills)
4) Easy-to-read language
5) Quotes from people familiar with your work

If this is not immediately effective for you in getting you more interviews then I have just wasted the last 15 years of my career and I am not beneficial to my fellow job seekers.

Let me know your success story!
