Browns FIRE Romeo Crennel

Think of an NFL Coach. The job of a coach is very transparent, everyone has access to how much a coach is paid, the results of the coach’s activities are displayed in their record, and a coach is judged on how well he hired or drafted his players in the off season. Ironically, with the Browns now 1-5 at home, Crennel’s record is 24-35 – the identical mark as his predecessor Butch Davis, who resigned with five games left in the 2004 season. Needless to say, Romeo is fired soon.

I can guarantee that your job is not as stressful as an unsuccessful NFL football coach. Could you image tens of thousands of fans yelling at you with the classic “Cleveland Booo!” and then having to sit in front of huge cameras, a jumble of microphones and cranky reporters waiting their turn to ask you embarrassing career questions about how poorly you are doing and if you thought you were going to get fired.

If you manage your career in fear you can’t perform to your true potential. I have heard that FEAR stands for “False Evidence Appearing Real”. What is the difference between watching a scary movie and not. After you watch a scary movie your mind perceives something that is not true and only exists in your mind.

Don’t fear getting fired, don’t fear failure, don’t fear losing your job, don’t fear the economy or what might happen. Instead focus on getting promoted, focus on progress, growth and self improvement, picture yourself succeeding.
